Cebu City Philippines

Cebu is indeed one of the best cities in the Philippines. From beautiful islands to delicious local delicacies, Cebu has it all. That's why I decided it would be the first city I'd visit on my first airplane trip.

I booked a flight for January 3, 2023, through  Cebu Pacific Airlines online booking system. For local travel, I usually choose Cebu Pacific, and I plan to create a blog or maybe a video on how to book through their website and mobile application.

After securing my ticket, I searched for an affordable hotel in Cebu City through booking.com. Luckily, I found a studio in Mandaue City, Cebu, it is at Amaia steps condominium Mandaue just seven minutes away from the airport and with internet access.

As a solo traveler, I made sure my accommodation was near the airport to avoid any hassle when heading back. Booking accommodation is one of the most important aspects of travel, especially for women. Don't skimp on yourself; book a place that ensures your safety! as we always say

BETTER BE SAFE THAN  SORRY.

Don't worry, I'll share my best tips for traveling alone in Cebu. At the time of my journey, I was 20 years old, nervous yet eager and ready for adventure.

After booking my flight and hotel, I started searching for tour packages I recommend joining tours through legitimate agencies when traveling alone since it lessens the hassle of doing everything on your own. Plus, for your safety, it’s best to have someone who already knows the ins and outs of the tourist spots in Cebu City rather than stressing yourself out figuring everything out on your own.

P.S. I searched back and forth through my Gmail account and Facebook account to remember the details. Haha, it’s a hassle. Now I've learned that if I travel, I should write a blog as early as possible—, not a year and a half after it happens! LOL.

So then, I joined a Cebu and Mactan tour, choosing two tour packages: the Oslob Tour and the Cebu City Tour. My pickup location at that time was Cebu Mactan Airport. If you have already tried being a joiner on travel tours, you know the process. For those who haven't yet experienced joining travel agency tours, please check the link below.

Below is the itinerary for the Oslob Tour and Cebu City Tour. I will write separate blogs on my experiences at each destination and how I felt as a solo traveler. Here is the list of destinations and my experience ratings (10 being the highest), along with tour prices. Prices depend on the travel agency you join, and this is just the price for joining. Always prepare extra money for entrance fees and souvenirs.

If you look at my ratings, you might conclude that I enjoyed my Cebu City getaway trip. Yes, I did enjoy it! Even though I traveled alone, I met some people during the trip and am still in touch with them. We follow each other, just like with my co-travelers on other trips. However, I honestly do not recommend solo travel. If you have someone to go with, please do go with them because, even though I traveled alone, I still believe it's best to travel with others to share experiences and, of course, for safety. But if you're a courageous soul like me and have no other choice, please keep in mind the following travel tips:

1. Pack Light - Suitcase advice: I love the idea of my suitcase rolling down airport hallways, which is why I brought one. I don’t regret it, though I did make the mistake of bringing a larger suitcase instead of a smaller one I could properly carry and put in the overhead luggage compartment. Because I’m small and petite, it felt like my luggage was twice as heavy as me. Lesson learned!

2. Wear Comfortable Clothes - Yes, OOTD is a must, but safety is more important. This is why I recommend traveling with a companion because you can wear whatever you want and get beautiful pictures.

3. Extra Money - Bring both cash and have online funds (e-wallet/bank). It’s self-explanatory. No one can really give an exact amount to prepare for a trip.

4. Plan Ahead - Make sure to have a clear itinerary and be aware of your surroundings.

More Tips on my upcoming blogs for now thank you for reading my Cebu City experience - Travel guide.

Travel safe and enjoy!
